Gema Bumi is a soundscape-mapping initiative that documents Malaysia through high-fidelity audio and visual, preserving sonic environments while promoting cultural awareness and creating contemporary collage artworks.
During the past few years, Gema Bumi has recorded many different sources of visual soundscapes, from mangrove forests and Traditional Cultural Performance to the port-side market in Sandakan.
Gema Bumi firmly believes that our gathered materials will be instrumental in rebuilding our environment and shaping a more sustainable and harmonious future. With these visual and soundscapes, we can gain a deeper understanding of our environment, both in terms of the physical elements we see and the sounds we hear, natural or artificial. This understanding can pave the way for a more sustainable and harmonious future.
